Royal Heritage
The iNkosi (Chief) was seen many times driving around with his wagon driven by donkeys until he finally purchased a Pontiac. He was a wealthy man with many cows, and his legacy lives on in our community's traditions.
River of Golden Dunes
St. Lucia was previously known as "Rio dos Medos do Ouro" (River of golden dunes) in 1554. On December 13, 1575, the day of the feast of Saint Lucy, Manuel Peresterello renamed the area Santa Lucia.
Conservation Legacy
Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park is the birthplace of "Operation White Rhino," the most important program that saved the Southern White Rhino from extinction in the 1960s. This conservation success story continues today.
